King’s Park Burns Night 31st January 2016
King’s Park Church held their first Burns Supper in many years on Sunday evening 31st January. The Social and Fundraising committee did a fantastic job in organising this very successful event with over 70 people enjoy a wonderful evening to our National Bard.
The lentil soup, haggis, neeps, tatties and cranachan were all expertly prepared by our wonderful team and was fantastic. All the entertainment was also from local King’s Park people and they were amazing.
Our young and very talent MC Campbell Mills kept the evening running smoothly as Neil McDougal piped in the haggis carried by John McCabe. Raymond Jenkins gave a very dramatic address and toast to the haggis. The Selkirk Grace was said by the Minister Rev Sandra Boyd and the feast got underway.
Jonathan Buchan sang sweetly Ye banks and braes and Ae fond kiss, and Alex Petrie gave a very informative and memorable Immortal Memory. Wilson Paterson was his usual humour and witty self in addressing the Lassies but Lorraine Pratt certainly responded every bit as enthusiastically. Hazel Dickson passionately read Rabbies’ poem entitled Jean and Alan Pratt delivered the vote of thanks. The evening finished traditionally with sing Auld Lang Syne.
A special thanks to everyone to came, took part and catered wonderfully to our every need.
